Funny thing about the 'Popeye' game; Donkey Kong was originally supposed to be a game about Popeye, but nintendo didn't get the rights, so they replaced all the sprites with new characters. After the huge success of Donkey Kong, Nintendo then gained the rights to use the characters. Funny though, that if they hadn't declined we wouldn't have both the Mario and the Donkey Kong franchises.

Yeah, it's amazing how that one little thing helped create some of the most iconic characters in gaming. My mind is blanking right now, but I think they had Donkey Kong, Jr. setup right next to it, so that's a nice subtle nod to its history.
